1. Opt In Email Marketing information

E-mail marketing is a form of direct marketing which uses electronic mail as a means of communicating commercial or fundraising messages to an audience. In its broadest sense, every e-mail sent to a potential or current customer could be considered e-mail marketing. However, the term is usually used to refer to:

- sending e-mails with the purpose of enhancing the relationship of a merchant with its current or previous customers and to encourage customer loyalty and repeat business,
- sending e-mails with the purpose of acquiring new customers or convincing current customers to purchase something immediately,
- adding advertisements to e-mails sent by other companies to their customers, and
- sending e-mails over the Internet, as e-mail did and does exist outside the Internet (e.g., network e-mail and FIDO).

Opt-in e-mail is a term used when someone is given the option to receive "bulk" e-mail, that is, e-mail that is sent to many people at the same time. Typically, this is some sort of
mailing list, newsletter, or advertising. Obtaining permission before sending e-mail is critical because without it, the e-mail is Unsolicited Bulk Opt In Email, better known as spam.

There are several common forms of opt-in e-mail:

Unconfirmed opt-in
A new subscriber first gives his/her address to the list software (for instance, on a Web page), but no steps are taken to make sure that this address actually belongs to the person. This can cause e-mail from the mailing list to be considered spam because simple typos of the Opt In Email address can cause the Opt In Email to be sent to someone else. Malicious subscriptions are also possible, as are subscriptions that are due to spammers forging Opt In Email addresses that are sent to the e-mail address used to subscribe to the mailing list.

Confirmed opt-in (COI)
A new subscriber asks to be subscribed to the mailing list, but unlike unconfirmed opt-in, a confirmation e-mail is sent to verify it was really them. Many believe the person must not be added to the mailing list unless an explicit step is taken, such as clicking a special web link or sending back a reply e-mail. This ensures that no person can subscribe someone else out of malice or error. Mail system administrators and non-spam mailing list operators refer to this as confirmed subscription or closed-loop opt-in.

Some marketers call closed loop opt-in "double opt-in."

The term double opt-in was coined by marketers in the late 90s to differentiate it from what they call single opt-in, where a new subscriber to an e-mail list gets a confirmation e-mail telling them they will begin to receive e-mails if they take no action. This is compared to double opt-in where the new subscriber must respond to the confirmation e-mail to be added to the list.

Some marketers contend that double opt-in is like asking for permission twice and that it constitutes unnecessary interference with someone who has already said they want to hear from the marketer.

The term double opt-in has also been co-opted by spammers, diluting its value.

Instead of giving people the option to be put in the list, they are automatically put in and have the option to be taken

For Email marketing to be effective as advertising, you need to either be the author of an article you write, own PLR rights to an article where you can say you are the author, or even get permission to use someone elses article where you can add your URL or even affiliate URL to.

Importance of Email Marketing

It's a fact that 95% of visitors to your website don't buy (or take other desired action) from you on the first visit or marketing contact., even if they are perfectly targeted candidates for the offer.  
Many times, consistent follow up is crucial to closing the sale.

autoresponders messages, to try to build a relationship with them & get them to buy from you for the first time or to buy more.

If you capture the lead information then you have multiple opportunities to build a relationship with them, so they will buy from you.
The key to success is to follow-up. With opt-in follow-up email marketing 7-12% will buy as opposed to 1-2% without it.
If you collect names & email addresses you can continue to feed them additional content, & down the road the may buy from you
because of trust you built.

This is why it is essential to use autoresponders. They create a subscriber list, the life-blood of your business, that you can contact whenever you want.


2. Steps to do Opt-In Email Marketing

Solo Ads

Your email recipients need to open your emails for you to have any success.
In order to get your subscribers to open your emails you need to...
a.  Personalize your email whenever possible by putting the recipient's name in the subject line. You should also use personalization in your email message, because people are much more likely to reply to emails that are addressed solely to them and not to a group of people ( like "Dear Fellow Marketer", etc).

b. Once you have a good email message and subject line you need to encourage your recipients even further to open your emails and take action.
When you do email marketing and send email messages to people that have opted-in, it is always a good idea to offer good quality content in your messages.
But even more important than that is in order to get them to click and subscribe to your e-course, email subscription, or email messages you need to give them a reason to want to subscribe.
Do this by...
1. Offering content on something they are interested in learning about

2. Offer FREE or low-cost products, training courses, specials, offers, etc.
* To find products that you can offer your visitors to help them subscribe or stay subscribed, you can giveaway products with FREE Resell Rights or you can offer low-cost Resell Rights packages they can get.

3. Send your visitor to a Squeeze page where they can opt-in to receive your emails.

4. Create a newsletter (series of emails) to send to your opt-in subscribers.

As far as sending out your email messages in your newsletter...
There is no set answer on how often you should send emails out to your list or leads. Some send emails at least once a day, some every few days, some once a week. The key is to send your email messages at the same time of day so it is a habit that creates an expectation and helps to build trust with your list.
